Women's volleyball opens at No. 4 in CCCWVA State rankings

The Moorpark women's volleyball team is ranked No. 4 in the first release of the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association Rankings (CCCWVCA) Monday.

The ranking is well deserved. The Raiders are off to a 5-1 start with notable wins over Ventura and Pasadena - both in five sets - which shows the team has the ability to close a tight match.

Moorpark, led by head coach Adam Black, also has a tournament victory under its belt after winning the Los Angeles Mission Tournament in the season's opening week.

If the early ranking indicates anything, maybe, it's that the Raiders are the favorites to win the Western State Conference's North Division. The next conference member listed in the Top 25 rankings is Santa Barbara at No. 15.

The Raiders will continue its great start against El Camino at home Wednesday at 6 p.m.
