Women's soccer edges Cuesta in WSC victory

The Moorpark women's soccer team needed a second goal Tuesday, and they got it when it needed it most.

Clinging onto a one-goal lead through 64 minutes, Riley Tripp scored a goal to balloon the Raider lead to two goals in an eventual 2-1 win at home over Cuesta in Western State Conference action.

Mia Nilsen-Aguilar scored Moorpark's first goal in the opening minute, a play set up by Skylar RuschKatelyn Lathrop assisted on Tripp's goal.

It was the first conference victory for the Raiders this season after dropping its first two matches to LA Pierce (3-2) and Ventura (3-1), respectively.

Cuesta scored a late goal in the 79th minute, but the match was already in hand.

Moorpark will head into Oct. 12's game at Oxnard 5-7-1 overall and 1-2 in WSC play. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
