Introducing Chuck Lyon, the Women's Golf Head Coach, whose enduring commitment to coaching at Moorpark College spans over four remarkable decades, with a journey rooted in passion and an unwavering dedication to student athletes.
Since 1977, Chuck's presence has been a guiding force at Moorpark College, leaving an indelible mark on both the athletes he coaches and the institution itself.
Chuck's unique perspective on leadership development in golf, an individual sport, shines a spotlight on the mental aspect. He believes in empowering his athletes to become their own team captains, honing their ability to navigate the intricacies of competition within their own minds.
His coaching career is punctuated by numerous achievements that underscore his versatility. From the 2002 Football State runner-up to the 2004 Football National Champions and State Champions titles, Chuck's prowess as a coach is evident across multiple sports. Notably, he has held the position of Head Coach for four different sports at the college - Football, Baseball, Women's Soccer, and Women's Golf.
Chuck's philosophy for team cohesion revolves around investing quality time both on and off the practice field. He strikes a balance between structure and maintaining a relaxed atmosphere, fostering an environment where athletes thrive and bond.
In Chuck's personal life, his family forms the foundation of his support system. His wife Gabi, son Tyler, and daughter Tiffany stand by his side, providing the encouragement and inspiration that fuel his coaching journey.
