Women's Basketball are Elite, defeating Ventura for the 4th time this season, advances to CCCAA State Quarterfinals

MOORPARK, CA - The Women's Basketball defeated Ventura, 67-50 for the 4th time this season in one CCCAA Southern Cal Regional final. The first time was at the consolation semi-finals at the Tom Gilcrest Invitational. The 2nd and 3rd times were in WSC North action. With the win, the Raiders will advance to the CCCAA State Quarterfinals hosted by Mt San Antonio College. The #2 seeded were seeded #1 after previuos #1 Mt Sac lost to Long Beach in their bid to advance. The Raiders will open their bid for a State title against Laney College of Oakland on Thursday, 3/14 at 7p. 

The Raiders opened the game with a 15-4 opening quarter allowing only one VC basket. The Pirates got their other two points on free-throws. In the second quarter, both teams exchanged baskets but the Raiders maintained their lead for a 28-18 halftime score.

The 3rd belonged to the Raiders and Rebecca Saidoff. Saidoff the WSC North's MVP powered the Raiders to a 10-2 run and the Raider lead ballooned to 21 points. VC didn't have answer for Saidoff or buckets to keep pace. 47-26 Raiders after three. Although the Ventura outscored the the Raiders 24-20, they never got close enough to threaten the Raider lead.

Saidoff led all scorers with 27 points with 8 rebounds. Calista Arzaga, Keilani Peralta, and Mika Jarrett each scored 8 points. Arzaga had 5 assists.
