#3 Women's Basketball remain atop WSC North at 9-0 with wins over Santa Barbara and Ventura

The #3 Women's Basketball team continued thier trek to a WSC North conference title making two pit-stops in Santa Barbara and Ventura. The first stop saw an inspired Vaquero squad who had upset on their minds but the Raiders were able to overcome the hosts ambitions and take down Santa Barbara, 65-57. On the second stop, playing Ventura for a third time this year, the Raiders came up against another upset minded team. Once again the Raiders were able to overcome VC's ambitions and eventually pick up the win, 59-50.

Santa Barbara came out like they were #3 team in the state, taking control of the game early and taking a 22-17 lead after the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, the Vaquero lead balooned to 9 points and the game officially was deemed a trap game. Mid 2nd, the Raiders chipped away at Santa Barbara's lead, going on a 15-6 run to tie the game 34-34 at the half.

The third went back and forth with 3 lead changes and 3 ties with the Raiders tying the game 48-48 at the end of 3, 48-48. Santa Barbara opened the 4th keeping the pressure on the Raiders but pressure was taking it's toll on the Vaqueros and they were starting to turn the ball over and missing shots, opening the door for the Raiders and they didn't hesitate to take control of the game. They would finish the game on a 10-2 run and get the win, 65-57.

Rebecca Saidoff led the Raiders with a game high 17 points with 6 rebounds. Keilani Peralta scored 14 points. Mika Jarrett added 13 points with 5 rebounds.

The Raiders opened the VC game rushing out to 17-8 lead after one quarter on Rebecca Saidoff's 11 point first. It was still early and the west county hosts had aspirations of defeating the #3 team in CA. They came out and used a box in one to slow down Saidoff and when the quarter was over, the Raiders trailed 27-25.

The second half started with the Raiders tying the game but the quarter went back and forth as both fought to gain control. The hosts used a 7-2 run and the Raiders trailed at the end of the 3rd, 43-37.

The Raider's freshmen took over the 4th quarter. Mika Jarrett went 3 for 3 from the floor with 2 steals. Keilani Peralta went 3 for 4 to lead a 22-7 4th quarter outburst to squash any VC ambition of tying for a confernce lead.

Once again Rebecca Saidoff led the Raiders with a game high 19 points, Mika Jarrett added 13 points with 9 rebounds. Keilani Peralta also scored 13 points.

The Raiders are now 9-0 and atop WSC North standings with 3 games to play. They will next host Hancock on Wednesday, 2/14 before hosting Oxnard on Sophomore Night, Saturday, 2/17.
