#3 Women's Basketball moves to 7-0 in WSC North after defeating Pierce

Coming off a bye, the #3 Women's Basketball team hosted LA Pierce to open the second round of WSC North action. The first place Raiders improved to 7-0 in conference defeating Pierce 81-46. With the win the Raiders are now 19-3 overall.

The Raiders looked like the team that had a week off, coming out a little sluggish. Both teams exchanged baskets with in the first quarter and it looked like it was going to be a close battle as Pierce tied the game with 3 minutes left in the 1st before the Raiders went on 6-0 run to close out the first. 17-11.

In the second half, the Raiders used their patented half court trap defense to give themselves some space but the visitors from Winnetka Avenue stuck around. The Raider's led as much as 12 points and ended up taking a 36-26 halftime lead.

The 3rd quarter saw the Raiders turning the screws on defense and opened up the running game as the went on a 15-3 to close out the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter mirrored he 3rd as the Raiders kept the defensive pressure on and scored often, shooting 62% from the floor.

5 Raiders scored in double figures led by Mika Jarrett who had a game high 21 points. Success Prysock had a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jamilyn Carton scored 12 points coming off the bench. Rome Falcocchia had 10 points and 9 rebounds. Keilani Peralta, who started in place of Rebecca Saidof, scored 10 points. 

The Raiders will next travel to Santa Barbara, Wednesday, 2/7 before taking on county rival Ventura in a pivotal WSC North match-up, Saturday, 2/10. Both games are scheduled for 7p.
