#3 Women's Basketball start WSC North 2-0, defeating Pierce and Santa Barbara

The #3 Women's Basketball team opened WSC North action 2-0, taking out both LA Pierce and Santa Barbara City College. 

Playing their first game in 12 days, the Raiders struggled to shake the off the rust and the Brahmas in the first half. Both teams exchanged throughout the 1st quarter as the Raiders took a 18-13 lead. The Raiders were able to create space, going on a 20-9 run mid 2nd quarter to end the half with a 40-32 lead. In the second half, the Raiders clamped down on defense and opened up their lead, dashing any hopes of a Brahma upset, 82-50, final.

Mika Jarrett led all scorers with a game high 21 points and 8 rebounds. Rebecca Saidof added 16 points. Success Prysock had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Calista Arzaga chipped in 10 points. 

 

Hosting Santa Barbara City College for game two of the week, the game turned out to be a tale of two halves as the Raiders throttled their way to a 41-15 halftime lead. Although their lead was never threatened, the second half belong to SBCC as the Vaqueros outscored the Raiders, 37-26. The Raiders closed out the game with the starters on the bench, 67-52.

Rebecca Saidof led all scorers with a game high 18 points coming off the bench. Mika Jarrett added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Angelina Santana scored 11 points.

The Raiders are now 2-0 WSC North, 14-3 overall and will next host VC on Wednesday, 1/17, then travel to Hancock, Saturday, 1/20
