Women's Basketball 3rd Place at Mt Sac's Linda G. Smith Memorial Tip-off Tournament

The #6 Women's Basketball team opened their season at the Linda G. Smith Memeorial Tip-off Tournament hosted by Mt Sac. and came back in 3rd Place

In there season opener versus Rio Hondo the Raiders raced out to a 21-9 1st quarter lead, pushing the score to a 38-14 halftime score. The lopsisded score meant  9 year coach Kenny Plummer emptied his bench and gave his reserves some game experience. In the end the final was 75-45. Fr. Mika Jarrett led all scorers with 23 points and 6 steals, So. Rebecca Saidof added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Fr. Rome Falcocchia added 14 points with 5 rebounds off the bench.

In game versus #3 Butte, it was a battle of 2 top-ten ranked teams in the State. It was Butte who came away with the victory, 68-56. The 1st quarter was evenly matched as BC took a 19-16 lead. The 2nd quarter started off the same way but the Raider scoring went silent. Butte took advantage of a 4 minute scoring drought to strectch the the score to a 13 point lead and a 43-30 halftime score. Butte's lead ballooned to 20 points in the second half and the Raiders offense stuggled to keep up with the 2023 CA State runner-ups. Rebecca Saidof led the Raiders with 20 points and Mika Jarrett added 18 points.

In the 3rd place game versus Long Beach, the Raiders defeated the Vikings, 66-60. The Raiders' offense took awhile to get going, scoring just 2 pointsin the first 5 minutes and the Vikings took a 18-14 1st quarter lead. In the 2nd, the roles were reversed with the Raiders taking a slim 32-30 halftime lead. It was the 3rd quarter were the Raiders clamped down on defense and allowed 8 points while taking a 45-38 lead going to the 4th. The 4th ended up being a back and forth affair with the Raiders holding off the Vikings. 4 Raiders scored in double figures led by Kealani Peralta who had a game high 16 points, Rebecca Saidof had a double-double, 13 points with 10 rebounds, Mika Jarrett also had 13 points and Success Prysock added 12 points.

The #6 Raiders and their 2-1 record will host The We Are MC Tournament as they open up versus College of the Canyons, 11/9, 5pm.
