Softball defeats Cuesta 2-1 to complete the WSC North undefeated at 14-0. Will now await CCCAA SoCal play-off seed.

MOORPARK, CA - Having already clinched the WSC North title last week at Pierce, the Raiders had one more goal to complete. That was to finish conference undefeated but one team, Cuesta, was standing in the way.

The game started off as a pitching duel between the Raider's Amanda Smith and the Cougar's Isabella Garcia. Mallory Akhlaghi's single in the bottom of the 1st had been the only hit of the game until the 3rd inning. Cuesta's second batter Alexis Sargenti was hit by Smith and that was followed by Kylyn Parker's single, Cuesta's first hit of the game but Smith enticed a grounder to end the Cougar's first scoring threat.

In the Raider's half of the 3rd, the Raider's second batter Mia Gregory walked. Danielle Bishop followed that with a RBI single to left field and Mia Gregory scored after th leftfielder had trouble fileding the ball. Bishop advanced to second on the error. Bishop next did what she does best, stole third. Mallory Ahklaghi executed the perfect squeeze bunt to score Bishop, 2-0 after 3. It was looking like that's all the Raider would need. Cuesta had other ideas.

In the top of the 6th, the Cougar's Parker and Skylar Fruetel reached base on consectutive Raiders errors. With 2 on and 1 out, Smith got the the next two Cougars to end Cuesta's second threat. The Raiders went 1,2,3 to end the 6th.

In the top of the 7th, the error bug hit the Raiders again. With 1 out and 2 on, Sargenti singled to the right side scoring one, 2-1 Raiders, 1 out. Smith got the next batter out looking, 2 outs. Smith walked the next Cougar batter to laod the bases but got the batter to pop up. 2-1 GAME!

Bishop went 1 for 3 with a RBI a run and a stolen base. Akhlaghi went 1 for 2 with a RBI. Smith went the distance, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5 to get her 26th win of the season.

The Raiders complete the regular season 14-0 in WSCN, 28-8 overall and will now await their CCCAA Southern Cal play-off seeding to be announced this week-end or Monday, stay tuned.
