Softball defeats Santa Barbara 8-0 in 5 innings to clinch at least a tie for a WSC North title

With 3 games remaining in conference, the Raiders 2 games ahead of second place Cuesta, the 1st place Raiders defeated Santa Barbara, 8-0 in 5 innings to clinch at least a tie for the WSC North title. In their 1st meeting on March 21st, the Raiders defeated the Vaqueros, 4-3 in 8 innngs. 

The Raiders struck first in the bottom of the 3rd. Kylie Kolkowski singled to open the inning followed by Mia Gregory's SAC bunt. Kolkowski moved to third on a wild pitch. Next Raider batter Taytem Reyes walked took second while the Vaqueros held Kolkowski at third. Danielle Bishop followed with a RBI single scoring Kolkowski. 1-0, 1 out. Next batter Mallory Akhlaghi got her second hit of the game scoring Reyes, 2-0. Leah Cowans RBI ground out scoring Bishop, 3-0, 2 outs. Next batter Alexa Paradis doubled to score Ahklaghi, 4-0, to finish the scoring.
In the 4th inning and with Amanda Smith logging her 6th K, the Raiders added 3 more runs in their half of the 4th. Maddy Mekari opened the inning with a walk. Next Kolkowski reached base on E5. Mia Gregory then walked, bases loaded. Bishop singled scoring Mekari, 5-0, no outs. Ahklaghi singled to get her 3rd hit of the game scoring Gregory and Kolkowski, 7-0
Smith finished off the Vaqueros in the 5th getting her 7th and 8th K of the game. The Raiders ended the game when Mekari scored on a wild pitch, 8-0, Raiders.

The Raiders who are currently 12-0 in WSCN, 26-8 overall, can clinch the outright conference championship with a win at Pierce on Thursday, 4/18.
