Softball defeats Hancock and Oxnard in WSC action, takes out El Camino to cap off the week

MOORPARK, CA - The Raiders Softball team continued WSC action on the road to Oxnard, then to Hancock, and for another rain make-up game at El Camino. The Road Raiders came home with 3 victories, 5-0 over Hancock, 9-2 over Hancock and a protested victory at El Camino, 3-2. Details were not available about the filed protest.

On the Tuesday game against Oxnard, the Raiders opened the game with hits by Mallory Akhlaghi and Danielle Bishop. Akhlaghi scored on a dropped strike 3. The Raiders got another run on Isabella Velasquez's RBI SAC fly scoring Akhlaghi. The Raiders added 2 more in the 5th and 1 in the 7th to round out the scoring. Akhlaghi went 3 for 4 with a RBI, a double and scored 2 runs. Taytem Reyes went 2 for 4 with 2 runs. Amanda Smith got the win with 7Ks.

The Raiders had an early wake up call for Thursday's game at Hancock but it didn't matter as they rapped out 13 hits scoring 9 runs. Mallory Akhlaghi continued her hitting tear going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a run. Danielle Bishop went 1 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Leah Cowans went 2 for 4 with triple. Alexa Paradis went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, a triple, and 2 runs. Amanda Smith had 6Ks with one earned run to pick up the win. 

Playing another rain make-up and third game of the week, the Raiders trailed the Warriors 1-0 going into the 4th. In the the top of the 4th the Raiders were able to push two runs across to take the lead 2-1. Isabella Velasquez reached base on E4 and with two outs, Mia Gregory RBI triple scored Velasquez. Taytem Reyes RBI single scored Gregory. The Raiders added their lead in the 5th. With one out, Danielle Bishop singled and then stole second and made it to 3rd on a wild pitch. Leah Cowans then roped a triple to score Bishop, 3-1 Raiders going to the 6th. El Camino added a run in the 6th and with one out had a runner on 3rd in the 7th when the Raider's defense turned a double play to end the game. Amanda Smith picked up her 12th win of the season.

The Raiders are currently 3-0 in WSC North, 13-6 overall.
