Softball sweeps their double-header at Chaffey

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - Having to reshedule this double-header once already and with rain forecasted for the rescheduled date, it only made sense to move the games up a day to avoid another rain-out and it worked in the Raiders adavantage as the they swept the hosts, 6-1 and 6-5. With the two wins, the Raiders are now 8-4 on the year.

In game one, the Raiders opened with Taytem Reyes walking and next Raider batter Danielle Bishop tripled. Bishop scored on Leah Cowan's SAC fly to left. The Raiders added 2 more runs in the 3rd and 5th to get the 6-1 win. Bishop went 1 for 2 with a walk and scored 2 more times. Isabella Velasquez went 0-1 with two walks and scored twice after being walked. Reyes added a double and Maddy Merkari also had a double. Amanda Smith got the win.

The Raiders opened the scoring in game two, scoring two in the bottom of the 1st. The Panthers came back and put a 3 spot to take the lead 3-2. It didn't last long with the Raiders scoring 2 more to retake the lead, 4-3. It remained that until the top of the 7th when Chaffey was able to push two runs across to take a 5-4 lead to the bottom of the 7th. Isabella walked and moved to second  on Maddy Merkari's SAC bunt. Velasquez moved to 3rd on Alexa Paradis' grounder to short. Mallory Akhlaghi singled home Velasquez to tie the game. The 8th inning started with the ASA tie-breaking rules with a runner placed at 2nd. Amanda Smith enticed Chaffey to go 1,2,3. In the Raider's half, Mia Gregory was put on 2nd, Taytem Reyes singled and Gregory made it to 3rd. Gregory stole home after Reyes stole second.

Next up for the Raiders is another double-header against LA Mission, Tuesday, 3/5 then at Santa Monica, Thursday, 3/7, and at East LA, Friday, 3/8
