Men's cross country wins WSC Preview Meet

Russell was the top runner in the Moorpark College men's cross country victory at the Western State Conference Preview Meet Friday. Russell finished the 4-mile race in 2nd place overall with a time of 21 minutes, 6 seconds, which anchored the Raiders' team victory with a score of 48, beating out second-place Glendale (57).
Bryce Gardhouse placed 4th overall (21:21) and Sean McArthur was 9th (21:46). Rounding out the top five was Johnny Slone 13th/22:04) and Steven Solitare (25th/22:56). Marcus Fehlman (23:32), Bradley Williams (23:47) and Luis Silva (23:54) were 6th, 7th and 8th for the Raiders. Max Kirkhope improved his time by 1 minute, 6 seconds (25:58).
The women's team finished 4th Friday. Led by Vanessa Avila's 20:26 time, good enough for a 6th-place finish overall.
