Men's and Women's Track & Field compete at Bakersfield College's Battle of the Regions

The Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to Bakersfield to compete in the Bakersfield Battle of the Regions and they came back with some hardware.

Raiders win 3 throws (Hammer, Discus and Shot put) and place 2nd & 3rd in Javelin!

The Raider throwers started the day with the Discus. Freshmen Kade Larson and Ben Nathanson took 1st & 2nd with throws of 137'6" and 128'8", respectively.

Next, the Men did more damage in the Hammer cage! In a very close contest, Ben Nathanson took 1st with a throw of 116'7" while Kade Larson finished 2nd with a best of 115'9" and Ian Burr finished 4th with a throw of 104'6".

The Raider Throwers also looked strong in the Shot put, placing 1st, 3rd, and 5thEric Glover took 1st place with his toss of 42'4". Wyatt Nowak was 3rd (39'5 ¾") and Kade Larson was 5th (38'7").

To finish things off for the Raider Throwers, Cytres Vives (134'8") and Cole Jarvis (116") had the 2nd and 3rd farthest Javelin throws!  What a great day for the Raider Throwing squad!!!

The sprinters and jumpers also had a great day!

6 men place in the top 10 of the 100m 

o   2nd Michael Holland (11.01)

o   3rd Carson Zeedik (11.31)

o   5th Rashad Shamburger (11.36)

o   6th Cytres Vives (11.37)

o   9th Makhi Hooker (11.51)

o   10th Tyler Zeedik (11.53)

·      The Men's B & C 4x100m Relay teams took 1st and 2nd after the A team is DQd

·      Michael Holland wins the 200m in a time of 22.03.

·      Ryan Tischhauser(15.86)  & Jordan Navarro (16.30) place 1st & 2nd in the 110 hurdles.

·      Cytres Vives "6'2 ¼"& Jordan Navarro (6' ¼")placed 1st and 2nd in the high jump.

 

 Lady Raiders

Mayagrace Wilson placed 2nd in her season opener 100m with a time of 12.91 and 3rd in the 200m (27.35) 

Top finisher in the distance races was Nathalie Ojeda in the 3000m. Nathalie placed 5th in a time of 11:49.  

The Women placed 1st, 2nd and 5th in the 100m hurdles. Sophomore, Ava Ball had an amazing season opening win with a time of 15.81! Freshman Denver Mack-Reyes (17.98) and Morgan Blanck (19.48) also had great season openers.

 

Top throwers of the day were Jaelynn Lee and Amani Hooker.  Jaelyn won the Discus (117'7") and took 3rd in the Hammer (98'5"). Amani won the Javelin with a throw of 91'11".

Freshman, Maddie Reeder had an exceptional day! Reeder placed 2nd in the Shot put (30'11 ¼") and Discus (103' 7") and then 5th in the Hammer throw (66'8").   

Nelly Jamneshan had a 3rd place finish in the Javelin (58'5") and 5th place in the Shot put (25'2")

In the jumping events, top performers were Mariah Kendrick and Denver Mack-Reyes who placed 2nd & 3rd in the High jump, jumping 4'9" and 4'5", respectively. 

The Raider Women also placed 2nd in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.  

Next up, both teams will head to Ventura to compete at the WSC Relays, Friday, 2/16, beginning at 9am.
