Jared Rhett highlights Moorpark track and field at WSC Coastal Meet

Jared Rhett can do it all.
 
Rhett was Moorpark College's top scorer over the weekend, winning the Discus (126 feet), the hammer (146'10") and setting an new personal best of the shot put with his second-place throw of 42'8".
 
His efforts highlighted the Raiders overall victory at the Western State Conference meet, which also keeps the team unbeaten (9-0) in conference competition.
 

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

Hunter Diaz placed 2nd in the javelin (123' 10") and 3rd in the shot put (39' 11 ¼").  Teammates Aidan McNulty (123' 1") and Leopoldo "Diego" Meza (107' 1") were 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the javelin and discus.    
 
The distance runners started the day with victrory in the 1500. Freshman Bryce Gardhouse had a 5-second PR with his time of 4:03.  Teammates Matt Russell, Johnny Slone and Bradley Williams finished 3rd, 5th and 7th, respectively. In the 800, Wyatt Tack (1:59) led the race from start to finish and Nicholas Williams (2:07) placed 6th in his debut race earning a point for the
Raiders.
 
Finally, the Raiders racked up 24 points in the 3k with a 1-2 finish by Johnny Slone (8:59) and Bryce Gardhouse (9:04) followed by Bradley Williams (9:13) and Matt Russell (9:17) who finished 4th and 5th.    
 
THe jumpers added an additional 31 points. Connor Gannon won the pole vault with his jump of 12'2" while Ethan Land (5"10 ¾") placed 2nd in the high jump and teammate Jahbari Fraser (5'5") placed 6th.    Constantine Pappas (20' 7 ¼") placed 2nd in the long jump and 5th in the triple jump (38' 3 ¼").  Aidan McNulty added another 2 points to the team total with his 5th place long jump (18th 5 ¼").  
 
The sprinters started the day off with a win in the 4x100 relay (42.18) with the team of Ryan Tischhauser, Will Davis, Jahbari Fraser and Colin Quinn. Top sprinter of the day was Will Davis who placed 2nd in the 100m with a PR of 10.92.  Colin Quinn (22.16) and Nicholas Balint (22.17) placed 3rd and 4th in the 200m and Balint was 3rd in the 400m with a time of 49.92.  In the 110 hurdles,  Jesus Hernandez and Ryan Tischhauser placed 3rd and 4th with their times of 16.21 and 16.64.
 
In the 400m hurdles it was Jesus Hernandez (1:00) and Mitchell Prokey (1:01) who scored for the Raiders with their 4th and 6th place finishes. Wrapping it up for the day was a 4th place finish in the 4x400 by the team of Nicholas Balint, Colin Quinn, Wyatt Tack and Ethan Land.

The Lady Raiders place 4th

The outstanding event of the day was the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes by Cynthia Hurtado (116'7"), Jaelynn Lee (111' 5") and Jaclyn Brown (104'3") in the Discus.   Hurtado (123'3)  and Ashley Yepez (102'1) placed 2nd and 5th in the Hammer Throw while Jaclyn Brown added additional points with her 2nd place throw in the javelin (102' 3") and 5th place shot put (31' 6 ¾"), respectively.  
 
The Lady Raider Distance Crew started the day with 3rd and 5th place finishes by Vanessa Avila (5:01) and Marlo Lavacude-Klenck (5:04) in the 1500.   Next, Avila placed 4th in the 800m with her time of 2:28. Finally, the trio of Lavacude-Klenck (11:09), Avila (11:15) and Marisol Munoz (11:18) placed 4th, 5th and 6th in the 3000m.   
 
Highlights for the Lady Sprinters was a 4th place finish the 100 hurdles by Amani Hooker (16.94) and 4th and 5th  place finishes by Kriztina Marquez (1:16) and Sami Crane (1:17) in the 400m hurdles.   Sami placed 4th in the 400m (1:04) while Amani placed 6th in the 100m (13.23).  
 
Ashlan Larson was 4th in High Jump (4'11") while Sami Crane (7' 1 ¾") and Kriztina Marquez (6' 8") finished 5th and 6th in the pole vault.
