Moorpark track and field represents well at Battle of the Regions
Bakersfield College hosted the Battle of the Regions over the weekend, which featured a mixture of 11 schools from both Northern and Southern California.
The Moorpark College track and field team won four events and took second place in five events. Event winners included Vanessa Avila in the 800m (2:27), Will Davis in the 100 (11.15) and the 200 (22.58) and Cytres Vives in the High Jump (2.05m/6' 8.75").
Jaclyn Brown (97'7") and Hunter Diaz both placed 2nd in the Javelin.
In his season opener, Diaz threw the javelin 130'7", which was a 12' PR over last year's best. Diaz also placed 4th in the shot put (40' 1.5") which was a 2' 5" PR. Jared Rhett set a personal best and placed 2nd in the discus with a toss of 135' 11". Amani Hooker was 2nd in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 17.99 and Ethan Land tied for 2nd in the High Jump (6' 3/4").
