Keith Higgins begins his 3rd year at Moorpark College. Prior to coming to Moorpark, he had been the Head Men's Basketball Coach and part time instructor at Compton College since 2009. Prior to Compton, Higgins had spent 10 years as the basketball coach at Reseda High School.

While at Compton College, his duties included instruction of human development and basketball classes, recruiting, strength and conditioning. He has been named the Compton College coach of the year and South Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and was awarded numerous coaching honors while at Reseda High School. As head coach at Compton College, he led the Tartars to the 2017 South Coast Conference Championship and his team was ranked #1 in the state of California. “We are excited about Coach Higgins leading our Men’s Basketball program,” said fomer Athletic Director Vance Manakas. “He will be an excellent mentor for our student athletes and will lead our program with the same philosophies Moorpark College adheres too.”

Numerous basketball players earned Division 1 scholarships under Higgins while at Compton College. “Obviously, Coach Higgins is skilled at developing players, and then getting them recruited to the Division 1 level,” said Manakas. “We look forward to that same success on an even greater scale.”

According to Keith Higgins “I look forward to joining the Moorpark College family and continuing to build the program. In the (paraphrased) words of Harry Truman, ‘Isn’t it amazing what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit?’”
