#19 Men's Basketball routs Oxnard on Sophomore Night, maintains a half game lead over Hancock atop WSC standings

3 days after taking over the top spot atop the WSC North standings by a half game, the #19 Men's Basketball team avoided the letdown, took care of business, and routed Oxnard, 104-52. 6 Raiders scored in double figures.

Before the game, 5 Sophomores were honored for their hard work and dedication to the basketball program over the last 2-3 years. The following sophomores will be missed as they move on: Jack Benyshek, Jeremiah Windham, Rocco Pompeo, Clark Holden, and Jamaal Unuakalu

The game rapidly got out of control for the Condors as the Raiders raced out to a 22-4 lead in the first 10 minutes. The Raiders got a little too comfortable allowing Oxnard to go on a 10-0 run to cut into the Raiders lead. The Raiders squashed any Oxnard upset bid closing out the first half on a 24-10 run and a 53-26 halftime lead. The Raiders shot 52% from the floor led by Jack Benyshek's 12 points.

The second half mirrored the first half as the Raiders rotated line-ups giving the reserves valuable game speed experience and a chance to work on set plays. When the final buzzer sounded, the Raiders had the 104-52 win.

The Raiders were led by Jack Benyshek and Jamaal Unuakalu who each scored a game high 15 points. Unuakalu added 11 rebounds giving him a doubl-double. Benyshek added 7 assists in 20 minutes of action. Kenji Cooper added 14 points. Avi Haplert scored 10 points with 5 steals, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Dylan Holt added 11 points and Kemani Bandy chipped in 10 points.

The Raiders are currently 10-1 in WSC North, 21-6 overall and will next travel to Cuesta for their last regular season game, Wednesday, 2/21, 5p. A win will at least clinch a tie for the WSC North title, a loss means a second place and more than likely a road play-off game.
