#17 Men's Basketball takes out Pierce to remain in 2nd place in WSC North

Men's Basketball opened the second round of WSC North action hosting 0-6 Pierce and the Raiders remained in the hunt for a WSC title defeating the Brahmas, 99-78

The Raiders jumped on the vistors from Winnetka Avenue from the opening tip, opening up the scoring 7-0. Pierce was able to battle back as they tied it 9-9 and briefly take the lead, 15-12 with just under 13 minutes in the half. From there the Raiders went on a 40-19 tear to take a 52-34 halftime lead.

The Raider momentum carried over in the second half as the Raider lead ballooned to 31 points with just over 12 minutes to play. The Brahmas were able to cut into the Raider's lead to 20 midway through the second half but the Raiders tightened down the screws and the Brahmas never got closer.

Avi Halpert led all scorers with 23 points. He also had 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Kenji Cooper had a double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Torres, who replaced Jack Benyshek, chipped in 18 points. Jamaal Unuakalu added 10 points with 9 rebounds.

The Raiders are now 6-1 in WSC North, 17-6 overall and will next travel to Santa Barbara, Wednesady, 2/7 before heading for a showdown with county rival Ventura, Saturday, 2/10. Both games tip-off at 5p
