A game is always better when there's something on the line.
The Moorpark College men's basketball team will travel to rival Ventura College at 5 p.m. Monday for a share of first place in the Western State Conference's Northern Division. The Raiders are 4-1 after wins over LA Pierce (91-84) and Santa Barbara (89-85) this week. Ventura (17-2) is 5-0 in conference play.
Carter Alexander led the Raiders with 26 points in the team's win over LA Pierce and Chavis Carpenter added 14 points off the bench. Angel Hammer led the way with 24 points in Moorpark's win over Santa Barbara, which gave the team its 12th win of the season, and its sixth win in seven games.
The Raiders (12-9) are 6-0 at home this season.
