Baseball takes two from Rio Hondo in week off from WSC North action

MOORPARK, CA - The Raider Baseball team took their bye break away from WSC North action and played Rio Hondo in a home and home series. THe Raiders toppled the Roadrunners on the road, 15-11. Two days later the same two teams met in Moorpark and the Raiders got their second win of the week 7-2.

The Raiders took a 6-1 lead into the 5th inning but the Roadrunners put a 4 spot the close the the gap to 6-5. in the top half of the 6th, the Raiders added 3 runs. Anthony Deluca singled followed by Daniel Aguilera, who made it on base after an E4. Daniel Orozco then tripled scoring Aguilera and Deluca, Orozco followed them in via E4. The Raiders put a six spot in the top of the ninth tp pad their lead 15-7. Rio Hondo scored 4 in their half of the 9th but ran out of innings.

Anthony Deluca went 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs, 4 runs and a double. Daniel Aguilera went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, 3 runs and a double. Daniel Orozco went 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs, 2 runs and a triple. Paul Mellado got the win after coming in to relieve starter Sergio Ruiz in the 5th inning.

The Raiders opened the game with 2 runs. With one out, Daniel Aguilera walked. The next Raider batter, Daniel Orozco doubled to left center scoring Aguilera. Ryan Stewart then hit a liner to shortstop who threw it wide of 1st base and Orozco scored. The Raiders got 4 more in the 3rd. Starter Caelan Eisenstein along with reliever Matthew Acosta kept the the Roadrunner bats silent for most of the afternoon, with Acosta picking up the win.

Jadyn Myatt went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Daniel Asplund added 2 RBIs.

The Raiders will take on Cuesta when the resume WSC North action next week.
