Baseball sweeps Pierce 3-0 in week three of WSC North action

MOORPARK, CA - Continuing week 3 of WSC North action, the Raiders took on LA Pierce for the week and swept the Brahmas.

Game one was a come from behind 8-6 win. Game two was delayed by rain but saw the Raider's ace Victor Castroll shut down the Brahma attack, 7-1. In the rubber match, the Raiders were able to hod off the Brahmas 18-9.

In Game one, the Raiders were slow out of the gate allowing 2 runs on two hits in the first two innings. In the top of the 5th, the Raiders dusted off the road grime and put together a rally. Two hit batters to start the inning and timely hitting got the Raiders the lead, 3-2. The Brahmas responded with two of their own in the bottom half of the 5th to re-take the lead 4-2. The Raiders got three runs in the 8th to make it 7-4 and added an insurance run in the top of the 9th. Pierce scored two more times but Daniel Orzco closed the door on the Brahmas, 8-6

Anthony Deluca went 2 for 4 with a double. Daniel Orozco went 2 for 4 with a double and got the save. Yandel Guerequeand Mingyu Kim each had 2 RBIs. Paul Mellado earned the win.

Game two was a different story. Delayed a day by rain, the Raiders had their ace pitching and he did not disappoint. The Brahmas got their lone run on 2 errors and a walk. Castroll pitched a solid 6 inings with 3 Ks and 3 walks allowing 1 hit. Ryan StewartMingyu KimRodney Sabbe, and Daniel Asplund each had doubles. Kim and Orozco scored twice. 

Game three saw the Raiders contiune their hot hitting, rapping out 23 hits scoring 18 times. Right fielder Jordyn Myatt had himself a day. He went 5 for 6 with a homerun, 2 doubles and 6 RBIs. Yandel Guereque went 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and scored 3 times. Orozco went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored and pitches 7 innings with 5Ks and scattered 6 hits.

The Raiders will take a break from WSC North action and will take on Rio Hondo for a two game set beginning Tuesday, 3/12, 2:30p at Rio Hondo then back home 3/14, at 2:30p
