Baseball goes 2-1 against Ventura in the opening week of WSC North action

MOORPARK,CA - Although delayed by two days due to rain, the Raiders opened their WSC North campaign taking on Ventura for the week.

Playing the opener on Thursday, the Raiders bats came alive exploding for 19 hits which led to 20 runs. Raider ace Valor Castroll got the win, scattering 6 hits, with 6 Ks and only allowed 1 run. Anthony Deluca , Tre Harvey , Mingyu Kim , Jadyn Myatt each homered. Daniel Orozco, Ryan Stewart, and Jadyn Myatt each had 4 RBIs. Deluca added 3 RBIs.

Game 2 went to Ventura 12-4. The Raiders went silent only getting 8 hits this time around. Mingyu Kim went 3 for 4 with a run scored. Tre Harvey went 2 for 5 with a run scored. Daniel Aguilera , Daniel Orozco , Jadyn Myatt , Daniel Asplund each had a RBI. Daniel Orozco was saddled with the loss

In the rubber match, the Raiders were leading 2-1 going to the 5th where VC tied it 2-2. It stayed that way until the 7th. The visitors from the west county, pushed across 2 runs across and took the lead 4-2. Not to be undone, the Raiders put up a crooked 4 in the bottom of the 7th to re-take the lead 6-4. Lead-off batter Anthony Deluca singled up the middle and took second on a wild pitch. The next Raider batter Daniel Aguilera walked. VC pitcher threw away Daniel Orozco's bunt and all of a sudden bases are loaded. Ryan Stewart RBI singled scored Deluca and Aguilera. Kim was hit by pitch to reload the bases. Next Raider batter Tre Harvey was hit by pitch scoring Orozco. Ryan Stewart scored on a wild pitch to end the scoring. Paul Mellado came in to pitch 2 shut-out innings to pick up the win. Ryan Stewart was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Deluca was 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs.

The Raiders will play Hancock this week. Tuesday home, Thursday away and Saturday home 

The Raiders improve their record to 4-10 overall.
