Baseball's wild day ends with a split with Ventura

The Raiders second double-header of the season facing county rival Ventura, jumped out to a 13-3 lead before losing 15-16 in 9 innngs. In Game two, the Raiders used the 1st and 3rd innings to post 10 runs and strong relief pitching to take game 2, 10-6.

Dylan Swanson went 4 for 6 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs, Alex Vega went 4 for 6 with 3 RBIs and with a HR. Trevor Seiger went 3 for 4 with three runs scored, Padan Riley went 3 for 4 with a run and a RBI. Shane Leong-Griegor went 1 for 4 with 4 RBIs.

The Raiders used 6 pitchers with DJ Vergini holding the ball in the bottom of the 9th. 

In Game two, the Raiders scored 5 runs with one hit in the opening frame as VC's starter was having control issues. The Pirates chipped away at the lead, but the Raiders added 5 more runs in the top of the third to make the score 10-6.

Reliever Noah Baladran entered the game in the bottom of the 3rd and cruised the rest of the way to finish out the game. Leong-Griegor 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, Riley went 2 for3 with 2 runs and a RBI, Trent Packard went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run.

 

Raiders next host Ventura this Saturday, May 1st.
