Baseball splits double-header with Oxnard

It was a gray and cool Saturday at the park as the Raiders hosted Oxnard for two. 

In game one, the Raiders were held to 3 hits as the Raiders struggled at the plate all game. The Raiders were able to get base runners in scoring position in the 2nd, 4th and 5th innings.

Their best chance came in the 5th when the the Raiders runners on first and second with one out. Paden Riley was hit by pitch and Trent Packard walked. Riley made his way to third on a fielders choice, but stayed there to end the innng. 

Starter Lance Kinross pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits with 6 Ks. He started the 6th giving up a double and Oxnard used a sac and a single to get their lone run.

In Game two, the first two innings were quiet but in the top of the 3rd, Oxnard put up a 3 spot. Not to be outdone, the Raiders came back and but a 4 spot of their own. Noah Gonzales started off the inning by being by a pitch, Dylan Leek singled, Gonzales moved up after a wild pitch and pass ball. Padan Riley 2 RBI double scored Gonzlaes and Leek, SS Shane Leong-Greigor RBI single scored Riley, next batter Alex Vega singled to move Grieger to 3rd, Spencer Perry SAC fly scores Leong-Griegor. Raiders end the inning leading 4-3

Oxnard had a man on base in the 4th and Leek made an spectacular catch over the fence line to end the inning and rob Oxnard of a 2 run HR.

In the top of 5th, Oxnard chipped away at Raider starter Noah Balandran eventually forcing him out of the game. Garrett Yawn came in to finish the inning. Oxnard scored 3 more runs on 4 hits to end their half of the inning. In the Raider's half on the 5th, Riley doubles again and scored on Vega's grounder. 6-5 Oxnard

Oxnard goes on to add one more in the 7th to make to make the score 7-5 Oxnard

In the bottom of the 8th, Vega started the inning off with a double, Perry singles to the right side and moved over to 2nd after Oxnard missed the cut off man. Dylan Swanson RBI SAC fly scores Vega and Perry moves to 3rd, Robert Rehman RBI single to center score Perry to the tie the game 7-7.

In the 9th inning, Oxnard was able to get a runner on base but left at him at 2nd. In the bottom half, the Condors were able to get the Raiders first two batters until Griegor singled to left, Vega once again singled to right, DH Conner Whitcomb walked to load the bases with 2 outs. Raider's next batter, Perry waited for the first pitch but it hit the dirt and got past the catcher scoring Leong-Griegor who was at 3rd. 

With the win the Raiders are now 4-2 and play at Ventura on Thursday.
