The #9 team in the state opened defense of their WSC crown last week. Traveling to Pierce and cross county rival Ventura, the Women's Volleyball team swept both Pierce, 25-10, 25-11, and 25-18, and Ventura, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-15.

Opening the week at Pierce, the Raiders avoided the trap game loss and made quick work of Pierce. Abby Montana led the Raiders with 14 kills. Gaby Schirado added 36 assists while Prior Borick had 11 digs. Olivia Campisi came off the bench and added 8 kills.

Capping off the week, the Raiders traveled across the county to take on rival Ventura on Friday night.

Game one turned out to be a back and forth affair. The Raiders and VC would exchange points until the Raiders went on a 5-1 run to take the lead. Ventura would go on a 9-4 run themselves to retake the lead. The Raiders had something to say, scoring the next 5 points and holding off a VC run to take game 1, 25-22.

Both game 2 and 3 went the same way. Ventura would take the early lead only to have the Raiders tie and take the lead. In both games, the Raiders would go on big runs to put away the Pirates in 3 sets. Grace Hazelton led the Raiders with 16 kills, Prior Borick had 21 digs and Gaby Schirado had 33 assists in the win.

With the two wins, the Raiders are 12-3 overall, 2-0 in WSC North. They will next host Santa Barbara on Wednesday, October 9th, 6p and then travel to Hancock on Friday, October 11, for a 6p start.
