The Raider Wrestling got their season underway, traveling to Bakersfield in their season opener. The Inexperienced Raiders dropped the match 18-38 but had a couple of outstanding individual performances. Mason Carrillo (133lbs) pinned a ranked wrestler Miguel Barreto-Gonzalez in :30 seconds. Tassman Cassell (184lbs) pinned the #2 ranked wrestler in the State, Adrian Juarez in 1:05. The Raiders picked up a forfeit win at 141lbs.

 

The Raiders next traveled to take on West Hills Lemoore and lost to the Golden Eagles. Tassman Cassell pinned the #4 ranked wrestler at State giving him the #3 ranking in the State currently. On the next day, the Raiders competed at the West Hills Tournament in a preview of the State Meet and placed 20th overall

 

In their second week of competition, the Raiders had a tri-dual with ELAC and Rio Hondo. The Raiders defeated ELAC with a 35-24 victory but dropped the night cap to a powerful Rio Hondo squad by a score of 34-18.

 

The Raiders competed very well in the Santa Ana Tournament this weekend. Several wrestlers managed to get major wins. Balmoris Ardon, Caden Terry, and Mason Carrillo carried the team with individual wins with ranked wrestlers. Mason shocked the number 2 ranked wrestler in the state by winning an impressive triple overtime victory by 1 point and securing second place at the Santa Ana Tournament.
