#4 Women's Basketball cruises past Cuesta, handles Hancock to remain atop WSC North Standings

The #4 ranked Women's Basketball cruised past Cuesta, 80-54 in their mid-week match-up and ended the week by handling Hancock, 85-55 to go 2-0 on the week but more importantly to remain atop the WSC North standings at 4-0.

Making the the trek to San Luis Obispo, the Raiders took on an inspired Cougar squad who had aspirations of an upset and those aspirations were quickly squashed as the Raiders went out to a 19-8 first quarter score. 

The second quarter was played evenly with the Cougars actually outscoring the Raiders 23-22 but the Raiders took a 41-31 lead into halftime. 

The third quarter saw the road Raiders tighten up their defense and extend their lead to 61-48 after 3. The Raiders outscored the Cougars 19-6 to close out the game and get the 80-54 win.

To cap off the week, the Raiders played host to Hancock. The Bulldogs came into the game sitting at 2-1 in conference and coming off a win over LA Mission. 

The first quarter went as expected. Both teams exchanging baskets while seeing how the referees would call the game. The Raiders opened with lead of 6, 8 and grew to 11 before the Bulldogs would cut it down to 7, 23-16. 

The Raider defense would show up in the 2nd and the Raiders extend their lead to 16 points just under 4 minutes left in the half. The Bulldogs cut it to 12 but the Raiders had a 44-28 lead at the half.

Both teams would exchange baskets in the third with the Raiders extending their lead to 19 to end the 3rd, 68-49. Despite shooting 20 more free throws than the Raiders, the Bulldogs could not overcome the Raider defense with the Raiders closing out the game with 16-7 run, 85-55. 

Kristan Yumul led the Raiders with 19 points and Mikayla Oliver added 14 points with 8 rebounds. All the Raiders dressed scored in the game.

The Raiders are currently 16-4 overall and will travel to Oxnard on Saturday 1/25 for a 1p start against the Condors after taking a mid-week bye.
