The #5 Women's Basketball team played host to 7 teams that are ranked in the top 16 in the latest CCCWBCA coach's poll in the Tommy Arellano North/South Showcase including #1 College of the Sequoias, #2 Mt Sac, and #3 Orange Coast.
The Raiders opened the 3 day event taking on Sequoias and the Giants showed why they were the pre-season and current #1 team holding the Raiders to their lowest pint total of the season in a 65-46 loss. Mikayla Oliver led the Raiders with 14 points.
On night two, the Raiders took on Chabot and although not ranked, the Gladiators were ranked at #18 in the pre-season poll. The Raiders used their defense to force 32 Chabot turnovers and take control of the game to put the Raiders into cruise control to a 100-38 win. Genesis Gonzalez led seven Raiders in double figures with 17 points. Maleyni Tolliver had 16 points off the bench. Mikayla Oliver did her thing with 15 points. Mika Jarrett added 13 pints. Alyssa Saldana had 12 points. Marianne Boco chipped in 11 points and Kristan Yumul added 10 points.
In the Showcase finale against Fresno City, the Raiders took a 36-29 lead into the half. In the 2nd half, the Raiders once again turned up the defensive screws, forcing 26 Ram turnovers and outscored Fresno City 47-19 to get the 79-48 win. Mikayla Oliver led the Raiders with a game high 22 points. Kristan Yumul added 15 points and Marianne Boco had 14 points off the bench.
Currently the Raiders are 9-4 on the year and will take on Long Beach on opening night of ELAC's Okawa Classic, Friday, 12/27 at 3p.
