Softball falls to #1 Cerritos despite quick start in home opener
The Raider Softball team hosted #1 ranked Cerritos College in their home opener on Monday and despite a 4-0 lead, the Raiders fell, 10-5.
Lead-off batter Mia Gregory opened the Raider bottom half of the 1st hitting a single to left field. The next Raider batter Camila Dalmau was hit by a pitch. Two on, no outs. Danielle Bishop was next up and drew a walk. 3 on, no outs. Clean-up hitter Kylie Kolkowski took a 1-1 pitch and parked it over the left-center field. With a swing of the bat, Raiders were up 4-0, no outs. The next two batters, Isabella Vlesquez and Leah Cowans struck out and flied out. Kailey Greene walked and Abrianna Ramirez struck out to end the first.
From there it was all Cerritos. The Falcons scored run in the next 6 innings to pull away from the Raiders, 10-5. Velasquez's solo shot in the 5th inning was the other Raider run.
The Raiders will have the rest of the week off before playing 2 double headers next week. Tuesday, 2/11 at Antelope Valley and Thursday, 2/13 at Riverside.
