Softball goes 1-3 against Antelope Valley in the season finale series
Coming off a 12 day layoff, the Raiders traveled to Antelope Valley for game 1 & 2 to begin their season finale series.
In game one, the Raiders erupted for 23 runs on 19 hits to get the 23-8 win in 5 innings. Marley Taormina went 5 for 5 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored, Rachel Hurtado went 3 for 4 with 5 RBIs, 3 runs with a homerun and a double, Delanee Upchurch went 3 for 4 with 5 runs and 2 RBIs, Alahna Long went 3 for 4 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs. Seren Horton got the win scattering 13 hits.
In game 2, Antelope Valley turned the tables and scored a 17-3 5 inning win. The Raiders got their 3 runs in the top of the first when Alahna Long hit a 3 run homerun scoring Delanee Upchurch who singled and Marley Taormina who doubled.
In game 3, Antelope Valley defeated the Raiders 8-3. Both teams scored a run in the 4th before AVC scored 4 in the 6th and 3 in the 7th.
In game 4, the Raiders jumped out to A 6-0 lead and eventully taking a 7-3 lead after 2 innings. AVC took the lead in the top of the 5th inning. With the Raiders trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the 7th, Delanee Upchurch scored to tie the game. In the top ogf the 8th, the Raiders staked AVC 8 runs and eventually lost, 16-8.
The Raiders finish their Covid abbreviated season 5-9 in WSC and 5-13 overall
Before game 3, Softball celebrated their outgoing Sophomores. Rachel Hurtado, Dee Villa, Tori Villegas, and Emily Sutherland were hold overs from the 2019 season. Monica Munoz, Iman Hibler, Emily Eriksen, Ylse Prieto, Madison Westerhouse, and Natalie Caramona were freshman in 2020 when Covid-19 hit and will academically transfering.
