#6 Men's Volleyball loses at Golden West before sweeping Irvine Valley in home opener
The Men's Volleyball traveled to upstart Golden West to open their week before hosting Irvine Valley in their home opener to close out the week. In between the two contests, the Raiders were ranked #6 in the first CCCMVCA State Poll. Golden West was ranked #3 and Irvine Valley was ranked 4th. Golden West would use timely hitting and Raider errors to get the sweep. The Raiders came home on Friday and took control early in the match and used their momentum to carry them to a seep over Irvine Valley. 25-20, 26-24, and 25-10.
The Raiders dropped game one to the Rustlers, 25-20. Game two went into extra points with Golden West taking it 30-28. The Raiders had 3 game point attempts but hitting errors would play a part in the game 2 loss. Golden West's momentum would carry into game 3 and the Raiders ran out of time, 25-18,GW.
In game one, the Raiders took control early and led most of the game to get the 25-20 win. Game two was the usual back and forth affair while the Raiders were able to pull away only for Irvine Valley to cut into the lead. The Raiders were up 23-20 when the Lazers tied it. The Raiders took the lead on a Lazer hitting error, 25-24 before getting the game winner. With the momentum on their side, the Raiders dominated game 3 and was over before it started, 25-10.
The #6 Raiders are 2-1 on the year and travel to the San Diego Mesa quad and will play two matches. First against #2 SD Mesa and turn around and take on #5 SD Miramar.
