Men's Track and Field finishes in 7th place at the 3C2A Southern Cal Finals and will send 3 to 3C2A State meet
The Men's Track and Field team stayed cool enough to finish in a 7th place tie at the 3C2A Southern California Finals and will send 3 athletes to the 3C2A State Meet.
At last week's Southern California Preliminaries, the weather was cool and rainy. This week was quite the opposite! Athletes competed in temperatures just below 100 degrees and they competed smart!
Top performer of the day was freshman, Tommy White of Moorpark High School. White ran a 15:21 to place 2nd in the 5k. Luke Sawyer placed 4th in the 800 (1:54.53) and Tyler Smith finished in 5th place (4:01) in the 1500m to cinch their spots at the State Championships.
Maya Natarajan was lone Raider for the Women to qualify for next week's State Meet.
Two athletes missed qualifying by one place. Eric Glover finished 7th in the shot put with his toss of 45' 8 1/2" and Keira Wyatt placed 5th in the Women's 100m (12.30) and just missed qualifying by .01 seconds! Wyatt also placed 7th in the 200m (25.28).
Denver Mack-Reyes had a 1 second PR in the 400 hurdles. Her time of 1:09.55 placed her 7th.
Malikai Bowens triple jumped 44' 5 1/4", a 1 foot PR and placed 9th overall on the Men's side
Kayla Saxton placed 11th in the 1500m (5:19), Isabella Shattuck placed 12th in the 3,000m steeplechase (13:58) and Savannah Landaverde placed
19th in the 10K (43:29).
Next up are the 3C2A State Championships Friday and Saturday, May 16th and 17th at College of San Mateo.
