Men's and Women's Track teams sweep the competition to claim WSC Championships

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Both Men's and Women's Track & Field teams swept the competition at the WSC Finals to each claim a WSC Championship. It was the 9th team title for the Women, first since 2006. For the Men, it was their 3rd straight title and 16th in school history. 

The Women were trailing 1st place Cuesta by nine points after last week's prelims. The Men were leading 2nd place Bakersfield by 11 points. After the dust had settled, the Women outpointed second place Cuesta 151.5 to 137.5. Third place went to Ventura with 124.5 points followed by West LA's 89 points.

On the Men's side it was a landslide of a victory. The Men scored 207.5 points followed by second place Bakersfield's 95 points. West LA was third with 91 points followed in fourth place by Cuesta 77.5 points. 

The Raider's Ava Ball competed in 6 events and was crowned WSC Champion in 3 of the 6, the 400m IH (1:04.76), Pole Vault (9'.25"), and was lead off for the 4x100 Relay team (48:69). She was also second in 100mH (15:50) and anchor for the 4x400 Relay team(4:12.82). Other members on the 4x100 Relay were Mayagrace Wilson, Kailani Chisholm, and Denver Mack-Reyes. Members of the 4x400 Relay team included Denver Mack-Reyes, Kailani Chisholm and Morgan Blanck.

Jaelyn Lee was also a double WSC Champion in the Discus with a throw of 120'9" and Hammer, 117'8". Amani Hooker was a WSC Champion in the Javelin with a throw of 112'9". All first place winners also earned All-WSC First Team honors. 

Aliana Tapia took second in the 5K with a time of 19:13.8 and was third in the 10K in a time of 41:15.71. Tapia along with members of the 4x400 Relay team also earned All-WSC Second Team.

For the Raider Men, Michael Holland and Kade Larson were each crowned triple WSC Champions. Holland won the 200m(21:40), 400M(47:29) and was a member of the 4x400 Relay team(3:17.73) Other 4x400 Relay team members included Seth Mack, Tyler and Carson Zeedik. Larson won the Discus(141'3"), Hammer(143'9"), and Shot Put(44'7"). Cytres Vives continued his domination of the High Jump(6'6.75") to claim his WSC Championship. Dlyan Brown rounds out the list of WSC Champion at the 5K(15:29.01). All first place winners also earned All-WSC First Team honors.

The 4x100 Relay team of Carson Zeedik, Michael Holland, Rashad Shamburger and Desmond Winbush took second(41:64), Jordan Navarro was second in the High Jump (6'2.75"). Eric Glover was second in the Shot Put (43'8.5"), Benjamin Nathanson was second in the Discus (134'4"). The second placers were named All-WSC Second Team.

The following Raiders took third and were named All-WSC Honorable Mention: Ryan Tischhauser 110HH (15:58), Jordan Navarro 400M(59:56), Tyler Zeedik Long Jump (22'.25") and Cyres Vives Javelin(158').

The top 8 finishers contributed to team scoring and the top 7 in all events automatically qualify for the 3C2A SoCal Regional prelims hosted by Cerritos on Friday, May 3rd beginning at 9am.
