Men's Basketball defeats #8 San Diego City to take 52nd Annual Grossmont Tournament Championship, DaShaun Warren named MVP
Men's Basketball returned to court after taking 17 days off and ran the the table at Grossmont 52nd Annual Tournament to take the championship. The Raiders came into the tournament dragging a 5 game losing streak behind them and were looking to snap it and it did not take long.
The Raider opened the tournament with a 79-62 victory over Copper Mountain to snap the losing streak and get back into the win column. Justin Rener had a game high 24 points while DaShaun Warren pumped in 14 points. Dominick Contreras had 10 rebounds.
On night two, the Raiders took apart Porterville, 75-52. Four Raiders scored double figures led by Jordan Torres and Reese Widerburg each scoring 12 points. Contreras added 11 points and Cooper Lucas added 10 points. The win set up the meeting with #8 San Diego City
In the championship game against #8 San Diego City, DaShaun Warren led the Raiders to a 93-82 double overtime win scoring a game high 24 points. Kenji Cooper came alive scoring 20 points while Reese Widerburg has 18 points coming off the bench. Jordan Torres added 14 points in the win.
DaShaun Warren was named tournament MVP and Kenji Cooper was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Raiders will have two home games this week before heading back on the road. They will host Cerro Coso on Wednesday, 12/11 at 5p. and Bakersfield on Saturday, 12/14 at 5p.
