#13 Football stumbles at Mt San Jacinto

The newly named #13 Raider football took to the road to take on Mt San Jacinto in their final non-conference game before opening National Northern action next week. The Raiders came into 2-0 after holding off Orange Coast while the Eagles came into the game 1-1 after defeating Citrus for their first win.

After a Raiders fumble and a missed Mt San Jacinto Field Goal, starter Luke Rasmussen took the Raiders on a 9 play 58 yard drive which netted a 28 yard Will Struyk FG. 3-0 Raiders 10:00 minutes in first quarter. 

Brody Meyer replaced Rasmussen at QB to start the second quarter. The Raider offense struggled against the Eagle defense only running 9 offensive plays in the quarter. Mt San Jacinto ran a 17 play and a 9 play drive to score the next 14 points to take a 14-3 lead into the half. 

After making their adjustments, the Raiders stopped the Eagle's opening drive forcing a muffed punt and the Raiders werein business. Rasmussen scored on a 1 yard plunge but a muffed snapped on the PAT attempt kept the score 9-14. The next Eagle possesion, the defense stepped up again and forced a 3 and out. Kayden Parr came in to replace Rasmussen and led the Raiders on a 8 play 59 yard scoring drive ending with a 22 yard TD pas to Corbin Hale. With Struyk's PAT good, the Raiders took the lead 16-14 with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd. After the next kick-off, the Eagles scored to re-take the lead, 22-16 with 3 minutes left in the quarter.

The 4th quarter turned into a field position game with the Raiders struggling to move the ball and the Eagles playing keep away. The final Raider possesion ended with a 4th and 6 dropped pass. 21-16 Final

Parr wa 6-14 passing for 89 yards and a TD. Rasmussen was 5-10 passing. Quincy Holland rushed for 50 yards on 11 touches while DJ James led the receivers with 59 yards. Vance Harris led the defense with 8 tackles.

The Raiders will next host El Camino this Saturday, 9/28 at 6p in their homecoming game.
