Baseball drops 4 straight in WSC North action
The Raider Baseball team started the final round of WSC North action last week, dropping four straight. First to Santa Barbara, 13-3, followed by an 11 inning 6-5 heartbreaking loss to VC, a 7-1 loss to Hancock and 18-2 loss against Pierce.
The Raiders opened the week traveling to Santa Barbara and the the Vaqueros were rude hosts as they defeated the Raiders, 13-3. The Raiders took an early 3-2 lead before Santa Barbara tied it in the 4th. The Vaqueros outscored the Raiders 9-0 the rest of the way. Nate Franco went 2 for 2 with a double Gabe Flores was 2 for 4 with a RBI.
Playing the first of 3 straight home games, the Raiders next hosted Ventura and the Raiders dropped an 11 inning heartbreaker .The Raiders took a 5-3 lead into the 9th only for the Pirates to score two runs to tie the game at 5. The Raiders had the game wining run standing at 3rd with two outs but left him stranded there to close out the inning. Nate Franco and Jadon Onaca each went 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs. Nate Kaczynski went 2 for 5 with a double and a stolen base.
The Raiders will close out their WSC conference schedule first at Cuesta on Thursday, 4/24 and home against Oxnard on Friday, 4/25.
Then will close out their season hosting Bakersfield on Saturday in a rain make-up game and Coach Mario Porto last game as he has decided this will be his last year.
