
Baseball picks up first win of the season while splitting for the week.
The Raiders Baseball team had three games scheduled last week but Mother Nature decided crash the season as the Raiders only wee able to get two games in this week.
The Raiders hosted Cerro Coso to open the week and the Coyotes made themselves at home, pushing across 17 runs in a 17-3 win over the Raiders.
The Raiders had their mid-week game against West Hills Coalinga postponed as the rain came in and created the schedule change. The Raiders and Falcons will now play March 18th at Raider Park.
To end the week, the Raiders took to road for a home game at East LA. Field conditions at Moorpark were not ideal so the decision was made for ELAC to host on their all-turf field.
The Huskies pushed a run across in the top of the first. The Raiders manufactured 4 runs in the bottom of the first. With one out, Nate Lajoie singled, Nate Kaczynski walked, Moses Hyde walked to load the bases. Jadon Onaca was hit by a pitch scoring Lajoie. The next Raider batter, Gabriel Flores drew a walk to score Kaczynski. The Raiders would add two more runs on a walk and error to make it 4-1 Raiders after 1.
Starting pitcher Valor Castroll scattered 6 hit only allowing 1 run to stifle the Huskies bats. The Raiders score twice in the bottom of the third and added another in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead into the 7th. Raider relievers Kameron Korr and Jadon Onaca would allow 3 hits and 3 runs to close out the game and get the win, 7-4.
The Raiders are currently 1-4 on the season and are scheduled to do a home and home with LA Harbor this week and close out at Fullerton on Saturday but more weather is on the way so stay tuned.
