Baseball's start to their 2025 season off to a rocky start dropping four straight.
Battling campus closures caused by emergency power outages, air quality from a nearby wildfire, and having their opening season series with Bakersfiled postponed and only having practiced as a team 4 times, the Raider's 2025 season got off to a slow start.
The Raiders traveled to East LA for the season opener and came back with a 9-1 loss to the Huskies. The score was tied 1-1 going into the 6th when starting pitcher Kameron Kor began to tire. In the bottom of the 6th, Kor gave up 4 straight hits before he was relieved by Matthew Acosta. The Huskies concluded the inning putting up a crooked number. They added another run to finnish the game.
The Raiders would begin a 3 game series with the Orange Empire Conference which included defending State Champion, Saddleback.
First off was Fullerton and the Raiders would take an early 5-3 lead but Fullerton would tie and eventually taking the lead for good in the 6th inning. The score was 14-5 in the bottom of the 9th before it was suspended because of darkness.
The visiting Bobcats showed they were ready to defend their title as they rapped out 12 hits and pushed across 8 runs all the while the Raiders only managed to get 3 hits off Saddleback pitching. Starting Raider pitcher Valor Castroll scattered 6 hits and allowing 4 runs before being relieved by Fr. Braden Jarvis. Jarvis scattered 4 hits and allowed 4 runs in his debut. 8-0 Saddleback
The Raiders closed out the week hosting Cypress. The Chargers scored 4 quick runs to open the game and cruised to get the 8-2 win. Brandon Glucroft was 1 for 3 and had a base clearing double with 2 RBIs for the only Raider runs. Gabriel Flores was 1 for 4 with a run scored and Steve Nelson was 1 for 3 with the other run scored.
The Raiders will stay at home next week as they host Cerro Coso on Tuesday, 2/4 at 2p., West Hills Coalinga on Thursday, 2/6 at 2p., hope to avenge their season opening lost as they close out the week hosting East LA on Saturday, 2/8 at 12p
