Emergency Power shut-offs and Wildfires wreak havoc on Basketball games, Spring season openers, and practice schedules.
In what had looked to be a packed week of athletics for the Moorpark Raiders, power outages and air quality threw a wrench in the plans causing several days of campus closures. Not only did the closures alter game schedules, they also caused chaos among practice schedules, leaving teams having limited or no practice time.
Unable to put together a string of daily practices, Men's and Women's Basketball games at Oxnard were postponed until Monday, February 3rd. Baseball had their season opening 2 game series against Bakersfield postponed until March 21st and April 26th. Their season opener will now be at East LA on Tuesday, 1/28 at 2p.
Despite having limited practice time, Women's Wrestling opened their inaugural season at the Cerritos Open and Softball opened their season at the David "Hawk" Wilder Memorial hosted by Glendale. The Raiders went 2-1 at the two day event with their last game being postponed due to the weather.
