Ava Ball and Michael Holland named WSC Athletes of the Year for Track and Field
After sweeping both Men's and Women's WSC Team Championships in Track and Field, the Raiders took home two more impressive awards to cap off the year.
Ava Ball was named WSC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Year while Michael Holand was named WSC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Ball competed in 6 events at the WSC Championships and was crowned WSC Champion in 3 of the 6. Ava scored 33 points and contributed an additional 18 points with the relays for a total of 51 of the team's 151 points.
Ava broke the school record for the 400m Hurdles (61.05), has the 2nd best pole vault mark, is the 5th fastest 100m hurdler in school history and has been a member of 4 of the top relay teams.
Ava concluded her 2024 season as the State Champion in the 400m Hurdles and was a 4-time CCCAA Academic All-American. She will continue her education at UC, Irvine where she will study Psychology.
Holland competed in 4 events at the WSC Championships. He was crowned the Conference Champion in the 400m and 200m. He also helped lead the Raiders' 4x400 to first place and the 4x100 to 2nd place.
Not only did he hold the fastest times in the WSC Conference for the 400m and 200m but Holland also held the 2nd fastest time in the 100m.
Holland had a 3rd place finish at the State Championships in the 400m. Minutes later, he finished 7th in the 200m and then also helped the Raiders place 5th in the 4x400!
Holland's speed landed him 3 spots on the Moorpark College Top 10 List (3rd 400m, 4th 200m, 7th 100m).
Michael Holland was a 4-time CCCAA Academic All-American (he also played football), graduated with a 4.0 and is continuing his education at Cal State, Long Beach.
