It feels good to be No. 1.

The Moorpark College women's basketball team was recently ranked the top team in the recent CCCWCBA SoCal Region preseason poll, and the Raiders are showing why after their 4-1 start to the season.

This past week, the team topped College of the Sequoias, 64-45, before taking down tenth-ranked LA Trade Tech Saturday, 74-61. Moorpark's only loss this season is to NorCal Region No. 1 San Joaquin Delta, 74-62.

Jasmine Nichols led the charge in the win over COS with 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals in 24 minutes. Rebecca Saidoff and Kadyn Mew added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

In the win over LA Trade Tech, Mew and Saidoff stepped up in the absence of Nichols. Mew poured in a team-high 23 points and Saidoff had 21 with 10 rebounds.
