Kenneth Plummer has been named Moorpark College's full-time women's basketball head coach, athletic director Vance Manakas announced Friday.

Plummer will teach Kinesiology and Health at the college in addition to his coaching duties.

For the past five years, Plummer has held the head coaching duties on a part-time basis. In that time, he's led a historic elevation of the program's competitive success, including back-to-back undefeated Western State Conference championships, consecutive state tournament appearances and state No. 1 ranking through the last two seasons.

In his five years, Plummer has amassed a 40-10 WSC record an 114-33 overall. In his first season, the Raiders finished 6-6 and 13-13. Since then, the Raiders have compiled four straight 20-win seasons, including the last two seasons where MC was 59-3 and 18-0 in conference play. Kenny earned the honors as the WSC Coach of the Year the last 4 years and the 2018-19 California Community College Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

"We've been fortunate to attract Ventura County's most talented players for the past couple years and are excited to see that continue," Plummer said.

Plummer has coached 15 future NCAA Division I student-athletes, including All-State players Jazzy Carrasco and Bree Calhoun.

"We pride ourselves on player development and sustaining a positive, competitive environment which leads to team and individual success," Plummer said.

The Raiders were defeated in the 2019 State Championship game. In 2020, the Raiders were favored by many to claim the state title. However, they were denied their chance by the tournament's cancelation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Plummer is certainly not new to the Moorpark College campus, serving as assistant women's coach, assistant men's coach and even as acting head men's coach for part of one season.

"Kenny is certainly the epitome of a Moorpark man," said Manakas. "He has served whenever needed and succeeded in every position from the time he stepped on to the campus as a student athlete 20 years ago."

Prior to coaching at MC, Plummer also led two highly successful high school programs, Oaks Christian and Oxnard, to historic success.

"Kenny's success speaks for itself," said Manakas. "What is less obvious is the excellent role model and mentorship he provides his student athletes."

Plummer was a central figure on Moorpark's men's basketball team, winning consecutive WSC championships and getting to the final four in the early 2000's. He earned a scholarship to Montana State University where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice. He also possesses a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University.
