Baseball has seven named to the All-WSC North Team

MOORPARK,CA - The WSC North Baseball coaches recently announced their post season selections for the All-WSC North Team and the Raiders had 7 athletes selected.

Daniel Orozco, a sophomore from Moorpark HS, was the lone Raider named First Team All-WSC North. Orozco led the Raiders in majority of the hitting categories. He had a .307 BA, 47 hits, 13 doubles, 3 triples, hit by pitch 15 times and scored 32 runs. As a pitcher he had 53 Ks and a 1.87 ERA in 59.1 innings pitched.

Catcher Mingyu Kim, a sophomore from Kyung-Buk Prep in So. Korea and Pitcher Paul Mellado, a freshman from Simi Valley Hs were named Second Team All-WSC North. Kim a mainstay behind the plate had a slugging % of .416 which why most teams pitched around him leading the team with 28 walks. Mellado rose to the top of the pitching staff after a couple of key injuries pressed him into service. As a freshman he had his up and downs but settled into his role pitching 68 innings and ended the year with a 1.51 ERA.

Sophomores Anthony Deluca, Thousand Oaks HS, Ryan Stewart, Royal HS, Jadyn Myatt, El Camino Charter HS, and Jack Almeida, Seabury Hill, HS were all named All-WSC North Honorable Mention. Deluca led the team with 176 ABs 47 hits and he had 6 doubles. At Shortstop, he had 80 putouts, 17 assisted double-plays and ended the year with 8 Es. Stewart was a pillar at first base. Led the team with 30 RBIs and he had 39 hits with 9 doubles. He assisted in 25 double plays and only had 2 errors on the year. Myatt led the Raiders with 5 homeruns and had 37 hits with 18 runs. Almeida had a .320 on base % and was mainly an outflelder but also pitched.
